Zacatecas has a cable car/tram similar to the
Sandia Tram in Albuquerque, NM. Of course, it doesn't compare to anything except that it is an arial tram. The Teleferico takes about 5 minutes from one end to the other while the Sandia Tram takes at least 10 minutes. The pictures are of poor quality because I was taking them through glass. This first picture is of the city from the platform while waiting to ride the Teleferico over to Cerro de le Bufa (Hill of the Buffoon). On Sunday, 16 Sept. 2007, Andre, my good friend Shaundra whom I met just a few days prior, and I walked to the Teleferico, took it over to la Bufa, then, walked up to the observation area of la Bufa. This was a rather adventuresome day for Shaunie. She has an incredible fear of heights and it took enough courage for her just to ride the Teleferico. I was so proud of her that day! She took her time, nearly gave up several times, but prevailed to win the fight over her fear of heights! Way to go Shaunie!!
Shaunie, resting against a rock, and me, marvelling at how much she had accomplished thus far! That path wasn't all that wide either!

Ok, so the drop off was only like three feet, but, it certainly looked like more when one was just walking up the pathway and looked out into the city!

I took the above two photos for Shaunie to show her how much further she had to go and what to expect once she got off the forbidden path!!
This was my attempt to take a panoramic-like photo or series of photos to document as much of the city as possible. This is the far southwest part of the city...or as much of it as I could have gotten. The following photos overlap a bit as well.

The rather large building in the photo above this one is a hotel!

These three photos are a bit difficult to see. In celebration of the Mexican Independence Day, Zacatecas hangs these gigantic lights atop la Bufa. The first says "Viva" in script, then the middle is the symbol of Mexico of an eagle perched on a cactus with a worm in it's mouth, then the last says "Mexico". I would have liked to have gotten a picture of this at night, but I never had the chance. Maybe next time!
This is the archway or entrance to the tombs that sit atop la Bufa.

The tombs.

Cerro de la Virgin (Hill of the Virgin)

The city of Guadalupe, for the most part. One can also see Walmart as well! lol

She's holding on tight!
Standing so proud in front of the city! I am so proud of you!! Look at her, she made it!
Part of our insanely steep walk down la Bufa!
